"Sardine came to my mind after I read an interesting article about sardines. The article explained that sardines were called the ‘fish that ruined Japan’ since they suddenly disappeared without reason and broke all the Japanese business and projects in Korea that were accomplished through the exploitation of sardines during the Japanese colonial period. Based on this historical fact, I could apply my imagination to this fantasy film that depicts the perspective of a returned sardine to Korea. "
"For the main character, 'Sardine' I was passionate to create a special character, who has a completely different point of view from human beings. The film shows how ‘Sardine’ is slowly assimilated with humans by experiencing kindnesses that he had never felt in the sardine world."
